I'm not sure if this outfit and photos were ruined or blessed by the wind. I am slowly getting used to Spring and its mood swings. I've also been trying to get back to reality aka everyday life. After my so well-deserved holidays, I still don't feel ready for routine to kick in. Not to mention I miss Ireland terribly and can't wait to go back. My days at work are getting busier (I blame Easter!) and I hardly have time for myself. I guess that's the price I have to pay so I can afford going somewhere else. All the money I've earned with my own sweat is the living proof of how sacrifice pays (well, crime would pay more, obviously). At least, in this case. I am proud of not depending on my parents when it comes to save and spend - that's probably my biggest achievement. It doesn't sound like a big deal but it is to me. I've been working hard for years so I could have my financial independence and it feels good when it finally comes the time for a little reward.
Now, back to the outfit. Saddle shoes, floral tights, ponytail - isn't this an in-your-face Springtime look? Oh, and daisies. Of course. As if one could ever imagine Spring without daisies...

I am welcoming Spring and saying farewell to Winter. But what I'm really celebrating is the fact that I happen to be on holidays... for two weeks! Finally, fucking finally. I don't have many plans but I'll let you all know the travel destination I picked out soon. Anywaaaaay, do you fancy my brand new boater hat? It's definitely one of the key items associated with Spring. I also found myself in love with my recently purchased ultra-kitsch and cute duck jumper. This time I even painted my nails (!), which I rarely do because I am too lazy to bother removing the nail polish when it starts to crack and flake off (how horrible is that?) and too clumsy to do it properly. Well, I guess that Barbie pink nails at the equinox can't be a bad idea, right?

She was, by far, my favourite in the red carpet! For those who expected a bimbo blonde bombshell look, well... This was a surprise and a very good one! I loved her dramatic make-up (the eyebrows look perfect and the berry lip colour is to die for!) and the and the vampy black dress (notice the gliterry bow!). Her brunette retro waves also contributed to the allure. She kept it dark and femme fatale-esque with a hint of gothic - the ultimate "straight-out-of-a-film-noir" look!

Lupita Nyong'o in Prada

My jaw dropped when I saw Lupita getting out of the car dressed in such gorgeously beautiful gown! Lupita looks good in every colour but this shade of blue is a favourite of mine - gotta love a nice pastel hue! Needless to say, the pleated Grecian dress flatters her skin tone wonderfully and "The blue reminds me of Nairobi", she said. Complete stunner, really. Lupita, you looked radiant and ready for the Oscar you so well deserved!

Julie Delpy in Jenny Packham

What's not to like about Julie Delpy? She's French, she's blonde, she's talented and she looks great with red lips. The wavy hair paired beautifully with her shimmering dress, apparently Art Deco inspired for a flapper touch. The plunging neckline also evokes the late 70s and the cinched waist showed off her hourglass figure. Julie nailed the classic 1930s diva look in the loveliest way ever!

We all know Angelina looks great in any dress and never disappoints - this mesmerising metallic gown is no exception. 

I love the embellishment in this couture piece; she looked unflichingly glamourous in a subtle way and also very charming, mastering the art of being sexy and elegant but not too revealing. Beautiful as always.

Forest Green and Oxford Grey

I've been so mentally and physically tired lately, due to my work and my lack of motivation... However, I promised myself to do outfit posts more often because the feedback has been encouragingly positive (thank you, everyone!), and I shall honour my word. 

This outfit hasn't been remotely possible without the floral dress, which you can purchase here (click through) for only 11€! What I love about this dress is the comfortable feel, the buttons and its slight mori girl style vibe. For those who don't know what the fuck am I talking about, Mori means forest in Japanese and this adorable fashion trend emerged in 2007, which style concept is basically the earthy look of a girl who lives in the forest or, at least, in the country - think tea, moss, vintage oversized cardigans, brown booties, books, a simple design, cotton, wool and cosy knitwear.

By the way, have you noticed the mushroom brooch? Pretty, huh? So, yes, you can wear Wintery yet Springtime-inspired clothes by pairing bits of style stolen from Asian trends with British countryside themed elements such as the farmer's favourite wellies, cable knit socks, scarf and cardigan. Besides, green and grey always work so well together!

Gingerbread Girl

February demands latte hues, even though I'm a black coffee drinker - I can't stand milk in my coffee. Baileys-coloured leggings, chocolate boots and a tweed jacket are subtle picks that make it possible for my adorably pretty red jumper with gingerbread men all over it to stand out! I love all things ginger, it's one of my favourite spices. Besides, it does wonders for your health, you know? I always cut some chunks of ginger root and add them to my lemon tea when I feel like the flu is taking over. The gingerbread man itself is, not only deliciously childhood-reminiscent but also cute and adorable. Even my body lotion smells like ginger! Sense a slight obsession?...

I actually had to purchase this cute garment through eBay, since it sold out within a couple of days at Topshop online. My mother found the jumper anecdotal - she asked me if it was a pyjama! Oh well, I shall wear it at work and I couldn't care less for the eventual comments.

My hair doesn't look so good, even though I layered it myself last night (not too much so I didn't end up looking like a cross between Joan Jett and a poodle), however, the colour doesn't look uniform. I must also mention the lipstick I'm wearing: it's the good old MAC Chili, one of my all time favourite lip colours.

So, how ridiculously christmassy do I look?

On Wednesdays We Wear Black

Finally, a day with no work, no rain (I love rain but my camera not so much) and no stress. I woke up at 3pm and, after a looong hot shower and a sip of white tea, I was ready to face my well-deserved day off. My mood has seen better days, I confess, so I struggled a bit to dress up and go outside - or should I say out of the Coven? My floppy hat looks dusty, as I couldn't bother cleaning it up. I could dress like this every day in a row for a week because it conveys a darker side of the comfort factor and I couldn't identify more with all the black. This look wasn't only inspired by American Horror Story but also by Lydia Deetz, Wednesday Addams and Stephanie Farrow in this 1960s picture. So all the feedback I get from people in the street are condescending looks intrigued by the witchy-goth going Amish sort of thing. These pictures were taken in front of an abandoned house but I still remember when people used to live in there, many years ago. Maybe next time I'll try to get inside for a house raid/urbex overture, what do you think? The worst I can find are HIV-positive needles and dried vomit.

Plum and Navy

If you live in the South of Portugal, you can never really expect a harsh Winter. There are no such things as dew-covered moss or degrees below zero. Winter in Algarve feels like Summer for the Northern Europeans. Instead, it has been sunny and windy with the occasional rain o'clock. And yes, this is my first outfit post in like... months? I'm too busy and too lazy but I promise I'll make an effort to balance my priorities and make the best out of my spare time. It hasn't been easy these days, you know.

About the oufit... Well, I know the boots look cheap (and they were... literally!) but they are practical, comfortable and BLACK. Black boots go everywhere! Also, the cashmere tights and socks contribute to that heavenly walking feeling - otherwise, my poor feet would feel every cobble stone I'd step in the street. The plum pleated dress looks very pretty paired with the navy jacket and the necklace adds a playful vibe over the preppy/retro thing.

First Days of December

It feels like Winter already! My friend Cláudia lives with her boyfriend in the countryside and this was the first time I went to their house. You can't possibly imagine how awkwardly nosy I am - when at someone else's place, I tend to open the drawers, explore the fridge, sneak a peek at every single thing... Oh well.
An afternoon walk under the sunny sky was a lovely idea, apart from the horse shit galore. I just felt like unwinding after a week with no days off at work... Cláudia's cat teasing the dogs in a provocative manner was also worth witnessing.
As you can tell by the colours of my outfit, there were some serious autumnal hues. I rarely wear mustard and finally gave in to this love-it-or-hate-it shade of yellow that actually makes my navy & light grey saddle shoes stand out. A scarlet jumper adds another splash of warmth to the neutral-toned vintage skirt (my mother's friend offered me some of her 1960's wardrobe gems), monochromatic scarf and black beret (the french touch!) and coat. I'm guessing it's an okay outfit for colder days. Layers are fun!
