Edward begged doctors to remove his "demon face", claiming that it whispered to him at night (!), but no one would attempt the removal. Edward committed suicide at a very young age, leaving a letter requesting the destruction of the "demon face" before his burial, "lest it continues its dreadful whisperings in my grave.".
