I'm back with some photos and words. First stop of my trip was Copenhagen - adjectives like cool, clean and cute are close enough to describe it. Cycling alongside the quaint canals (and cemeteries) was indeed a romantic thing to do. The Danes are scandalously stylish and a showcase of Nordic beauty with their athletic bodies, youthful attitude and practical sense of effortless fashion; not to mention how prone they are to civism, organisation and progress. Copenhagen is a vibrant yet cosy city with a cosmpolitan hint, a general sense of amusement and eco-friendliness. This is a place where one feels invited to walk and to cycle - incredibly functional and flat, also very green (environmental awareness, a harbour with clear water, a park in every corner). The weather was at its best, perfect for our morning stroll around bohemian Christianshavn, after frikadeller for breakfast, ending up on Christiania witnessing a police raid - pretty entertaining. Meatpacking District struck me as the most interesting area to eat and drink, not only because its cool local groove but also for its eerie slaughterhouse feel that spices up the nightlife. I hope it doesn't get too trendy though. Latin Quarter has also made me fall in love with its atmosphere, starting with Twin Peaks inspired café The Log Lady (where I had a cup of damn good black coffee) to the charismatic streets. Posh Frederiksberg also displayed some charming architecture and lovely boulevards, despite the gentrified brunch joints. Copenhagen is not the cheapest city but sure there are many gardens, museums, galleries and exhibitions to experience for free. I enjoyed the nautical essence of the old town, paired with the fairytale-like spires embellishing the skyline by the water, reflecting the Indian Summer sunlight. Do I want to go back to Copenhagen? Yes, absolutely! It's the grooviest city I've ever been in Scandinavia - not too big, very safe and satisfyingly feel-good. I didn't make it to Halloween themed Tivoli Gardens, what a pity. Maybe next time. By the way, the only reason why I didn't mention the Danish sausages here was because I didn't want to start drooling like a beast. Stay tuned, a post about another beautiful country is on its way.
