Maps

I have always been fascinated with maps. Some of the old maps in these images are pure art - I would keenly hang them on the walls in order to fulfill my decoration standarts. More than History or Geography alone, there is something appealing about Cartography - it's an aesthetically interesting combination of science, technique and a concept of scale, realism and information that was not always accurate. Some maps are storytellers, others are a nightmarish display of ignorance, distorted by unknowledge and deformed by ridiculous geographical misconceptions... Still, can we all take a moment to appreciate such timeless gems?

  1. What a great post. I completely agree with you. There is so much that one can learn about a specific point in time in the world from studying maps. And you can only imagine the amount of work that went into creating them, it's almost incomprehensible. It can't be denied either that they are very aesthetically pleasing to the eye. I would to have one of these framed and hanging as a form of decoration as well.

  5. Your like me!! I love maps too, I have a small collection of vintage maps, world maps and old city maps. There so interesting to look at the older ones that is, where they actually draw out the buildings.

  10. "We do not experience reality in the so called 'real world', but only its dim shadow" -Plato

Wake up earth, our reality has been inverted by sheer illusion & pseudoscience. We are one with earth & the cosmos (cause of motion).... Literally
