Eugene Lushpin

Eugene Lushpin is one of the most inspiring contemporary artists, whose work, influenced by the Russian Realism School, captures the beauty and serenity of light and landscape wonderfully. Lushpin was born in Moscow in 1966 and his paintings reflect a melancholic mood, either it's an urban backdrop or a countryside scenario. The dim-lit atmosphere at dusk and dawn gives me the impression that I am actually there, in the urban fairytale or in a desert alley, surrounded by snow-covered rooftops and lonely streets, and even feeling the temperature and experiencing how the air would smell. Lushpin's brushstrokes give birth to a sharp contrast, a brilliant use of colour and also a realism that, at first glance, might lead you to mistake these paintings for photos. Impressive artwork.
