Inspiration: The Edge of Love (2008)

Everyone needs to know why I love this movie - not as much as I love Atonement though. It's a beautifully directed film, visually stunning and with a passionate plot.
The Edge of Love has some vibrant scenes and dialogue, not to mention the subtle emotionally charged moments. It's not a typical Hollywood sort of film, it is more like a poetic masterpiece.
Dylan, Caitlin and Vera are fascinating, vivid characters and you will probably identify with one of them. The cast is okay - I'm not a big Sienna Miller fan but I can't complain about her in this one, I admit I like her role (I think she was also brilliant in Alfie, as Nikki the bipolar bombshell). The scenes of Vera and Caitlin spent together in the Welsh countryside and coastline, wearing their wellies, floral dresses and cardigans... are memorable.
Dylan Thomas and his poetry are evocative while his the furtive sexual tension between this great author and Vera, the brunette, makes us wonder how things are going to end up in such lovely bucolic setting.
Last but not least, all the 1940's outfits are remarkable and tremendously inspiring! I love the slightly bohemian apparels and the classic dressy outfits and hats paired with the flawlessly timeless red lipstick.
So... Go watch The Edge of Love and get inspired. It's a wonderful story about love, friendship, secrets, war, emotions, poetry, changes and how seductive can welsh accent be.

Portanto...

  1. This film is so beautiful! I LOVE Atonement too, but I love Edge of Love for the wonderful outfit inspiration. You've included all of my favourite outfits in these pictures, my favourite of all though are the chunky knit sweaters with floral dresses and wellies! Oh so wonderful, if I didn't live in such a hot country I would love to dress like that :D

Kiera knightly is so divine, I love her makeup in this film, she suits red lipstick so much! I think the 40s style looks really beautiful on her figure too.

  2. O guarda roupa é qualquer coisa!!! Gostaste do Atonement?
