First Beach Day in Years

When you live so close to the sea, you sometimes take it for granted. I do. But could I ever live in a place away from sea at all? Hell no! I am so familiar with the Atlantic breeze, the ocean fragrance, the sound of the waves carried by the wind at night... I'd miss it all. I haven't been in the beach for years but after purchasing the prettiest swimsuit ever to land in my wardrobe - which I didn't photograph yet - I promised myself to go for a swim every now and then. So yes, it happened: I went to the beach! A splash in the cold sea heals everything, even the worst hangover! Naturally, with my appetite intensified, we were in for mojitos and pizza. I try hard not to get tanned but sunshine is ruthless where I come from. I guess I have to bring my own parasol and avoid sun exposure as much as possible... Emilee, the pale blondie, is now away traveling and here I am, spending my Summer at work and eventually enjoying some quality time when my day off comes. We can't have everything, I suppose.

  2. Tenho a sensação que conheço essa praia!

E eu, mesmo sendo do Algarve como tu, não me bronzeio nem um bocadinho. O sol parece que bate em mim e vai embora :(

  5. These are great photographs - your beaches look so beautiful! I am in the same boat as you. I literally have the beach just a five minute drive from my house, and when I was at my old flat, just a minute walk, but I hadn't been to swim at the beach in about eight years. And it's really awful considering that the beaches where I am are considered some of the best in the world. But in all honesty, I couldn't be away from it either. The air is different near the ocean, you can smelt salt in the breeze and the faint roar of the waves is very therapeutic. Even going away for a week I miss it too much.

  7. These photos are great! That beach looks oh-so-enchanting, gosh. I love the ocean, but usually avoid it because of the teenage beach culture associated with where I live, as when I go out into the waves in my high-waisted bikini and excessive sunscreen i feel i look rather out of place.

  9. Também consigo passar anos sem meter os pés na praia, no entanto penso que um fato de banho perfeito também me faria mudar de ideias :p

  12. Beautiful photographs as always, Nancy. Where you live looks so beautiful - such a peaceful and secluded beach, not like my nearest beach which is crawling with people eating chips and drinking the second the sun comes out! I especially love the photograph of the little hidden bridge - so pretty.

p.s. I know how you feel about waiting for your next day off - eternally jealous of the people who have long summer holidays to enjoy.

  14. This looks like such a beautiful place to live. I take the beach for granted too, I've been spending more time there lately as it's my last summer down by the sea and I'm definitely going to miss it! I'm also working for most of the summer, saving up the pennies but after plenty of saving a holiday is on the cards so that will be a lovely get away! Would love to see your new swimsuit!
