From Liverpool With Love

I've wanted to visit Liverpool for a very long time but it took me a while to finally book a flight, counting on my cousins to give me shelter. I hoped this city to offer me a local-like experience instead of a Beatlemania pilgrimage. Don't get me wrong, I love The Beatles but Liverpool is so much more than the Fab Four and LFC. From impressive cathedrals to a groovy nightlife, from hip cafés to free admission art galleries, from a memorable and iconic waterfront to the neverending high street buskers, Liverpool has a little bit of everything in its recipe and that's exactly what makes it so easily enjoyable. I particularly enjoyed my morning stroll around Albert Dock, where the warehouses were converted into interesting museums, gastropubs and must-see exhibition venues. Modern architecture mixed with the old buildings by the riverfront pleased my eye while my ears were invaded by Scouse accent and a cold gust of wild wind. Scousers are pretty friendly, I'll give you that! Walking along Bold Street in the evening, getting lost (literally) in Sefton Park after dark, dining at a Lebanese restaurant for a life-changing food experience... Liverpool was indeed full of little adventures. I was expecting snow but all I had was rain and hail. If you ask me if I feel like coming back to Liverpool, fuck yes, I do! There are many things and places yet to see and visit such as Birkenhead Park and New Brighton - probably more inviting during Summertime. It's a vibrant, easygoing place, cheaper than London and still insanely cool. Until next time, I can always listen to some Merseybeat.

  1. Levas-me contigo pra esses sítios?
Vou ver o filme :)

  2. Não me lembro de Liverpool ser assim tão bonito, mas as duas horas que lá passei foram num torpor de alcool e drogas leves que fizeram com que a única recordação que tenha do sitio seja de dizer "It's just a pool full of liver." antes de me gregoriar toda... amei as fotos.

  10. Always interesting to read about Liverpool from a visitor's point of view! There is so much to see and do, I never get bored and I love recommending it to visitors. It's also really easy to get to The Wirral. The nicest way is to take a ferry across the Mersey (just like in the song!). The ferry runs from Pier Head near the Liver Building, and you can get buses to Birkenhead and other parts of The Wirral from the other side. For a less scenic but quicker and easier route, there are underground trains running from all central Liverpool stations which will take you to wherever you want to go. And if you visit New Brighton, probably nicest to go in the spring for a real experience of a typical British holiday destination. They have recently done it up and you can also get everything you want from chips to a healthy lunch at Legends Café (AKA my dad's café ;)) Hope to read more about Liverpool and the North West again sometime!
