Inspiration: Wednesday Addams

Wednesday Addams (played by the lovely Christina Ricci) has always been an iconic reference to me, ever since I watched the 90's version of Addams Family! The pointy collar, the psycho smirk, the sociopath look in her eyes... Somehow, there was something in that girl that I've always related to. It wasn't just because I would naturally identify myself with a petite pale-faced, big-eyed, dark-haired girl... There was something else. Her morbid humour always had a huge impact on me. Enjoying thunderstorms, voicing our evil needs and deeds, loathing all the society standarts and defy authority and acceptable behaviour... all of that can be seen in almost every teenage spirit at some point. I guess Wednesday Addams was just a darker stereotype of a counter-culture rebel young girl, exaggerated enough to have our attention. She hated everything before it was cool!

Morticia Addams, for instance, was the sultry female of the family, the femme fatale and I always cherished her relationship with Gomez, but it was in Wednesday I saw my soul. She was an alter-ego to blossom when I had to cope with my own frustrations, anger and other teenage negative parafernalia. Of course that didn't really improved my popularity/reputation in highschool, since I usually dressed in black (a black mid-length dress with a pointy white collar and white cuffs and buttons), wore weird legwear and clownish Dr Martens (as I have tiny feet, Docs always look big), braided my hair and sometimes even carried knives, boxcutters or axes with me - I wonder how I never got suspended! Add some self-harming and anti-social skills to that and it happens what it happened to me: walking through the school halls surrounded by bunches of boys (usually the popular, prom king, athlete type) staring at me, finding me so bizarre and laughable to the point of whistling and humming The Addams Family Theme!

So, that's why I love Wednesday Addams - that character is a part of me (like Dexter's "dark passenger"). We sort of have a history together. And of course, no one rocks a goth frock like she does!

O seu humor negro sempre me causou impacto.

Lolita meets Wednesday Addams

                                                                                                                                                                                             Dress - Oasis // Tights - H&M // Sunglasses - via Ebay // Shoes - Bass ♥ Rachel Antonoff

This is actually one of my favourite outfits. I can pretty much do every sort of thing wearing this... However, I think this is a more suitable choice to wear in Autumn or even in Spring.
Basically, what I was trying to achieve was to look naïf (like how Dolores Haze looks at first sight) and simultaneously morose, as in Wednesday Addams. I find that ambiguity really interesting.
So, I matched the floral lovely tights with the heart-shaped glasses and braided my hair - I almost ended up looking like Heidi actually! The red lips add a precocious appeal, while the black and white dress suggests an austere, almost catholic schoolgirl-like apparel.
Not to mention the fact that a girl in saddle shoes, reading Nabokov, is a nothing but a wolf in sheep's clothing.
