Don Toro

Last Wednesday, I have experienced one of the most sensational dining wonders ever. I ate this melt-in-your-mouth Angus beef filet mignon and it felt like tastebud orgasm (!). Yes, I am a bovine meat enthusiast.

Honestly, Don Toro is one of the most expensive restaurants I've ever been to (worth it, though), but I can't resist any sort of red meat that comes from Argentina or South America in general, really. You know I am obsessed with good food and forgive me, vegans, but my carnivore overtures are certainly one of the main sources of pleasure I find in life. So, I invited Cláudia, my meat-eater partner in crime, for the feast.

At first, I was a bit afraid of having dinner in Don Toro at this time of the year, not only because the service is worse as the restaurants are always busy and crowded with tourists, but also because of some bad reviews I read on TripAdvisor, complaining about how long it took, and how rude were the waiters (the Romanian guy who served us was quite funny actually, he thought we were underage when we asked for some wine), and how the steaks came out well done instead of rare... But we were not in a hurry, so we waited patiently for our meat masterpiece... and when it finally landed on our table, oh Lord, that was fucking Heaven on plates. It could not have been better. The meat was so juicy and tasty, incredibly, deliciously succulent... I am still lusting over it (sexually attracted to food is quite a bizarre concept...)! All I know is that, after that fabulous filet, I became automatically more demanding with meat meals. How can one still crave McDonalds after enjoying such rich flavour?

Fancy red wine, garlic bread with brie, oregano-fueled salad and side sauces like gorgonzola, blue cheese, chimichurri and herbal garlic butter... Seriously, could the evening get any better? Also loved the decoration and atmosphere: warm tones, red lamps, Frank Sinatra - great choice for a romantic dinner. Oh, and did I mention the basil and lime mousse we ate in the end?

If you are sick of your average steak and aim for something greater, this is the place to go.
Beyond satisfying, it was love at first bite!

  3. Infelizmente detesto carne de vaca, mas a entrada do pão de alho com brie, pá, podia comer isso a vida inteira, a todas as refeições, com um belo cabernet sauvignon, ou com o meu orgasmo pessoal, o belo do syrah, era feliz.
